Category: GeneralWalk a Mile in Her Shoes®

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® is a national event designed to help raise awareness about sexual violence. Each year, men, women and their families join Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® to benefit Gracehaven. The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® Event is a fun and quirky, but meaningful opportunity to raise awareness in the community about child sex trafficking.
Gracehaven realized there was a demand for services for victims of commercial sexual exploitation. We began our organization to provide a residential group home for girls under the age of 18 who are survivors, to raise awareness, to train social service providers, and to provide outreach and comprehensive case management to victims.

Gracehaven is a proud member of the Central Ohio Rescue and Restore Coalition, The Ohio Attorney General’s Study Commission on Human Trafficking and the Ohio Network of Anti Human Trafficking Coalitions.

Gracehaven will have three Walk A Mile in Her Shoes walks this year in the Columbus area - for Mother's Day, for Father's Day and a Back-to-School Walk.
    First You Walk the Walk

There is an old saying: "You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes." Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® asks men and women to literally walk one mile in women's high-heeled shoes (encouraged, but optional!) It is a unique opportunity to open the door on the discussion of child sex trafficking that happens right here in Central Ohio.
    Then You Talk the Talk

It is critical to bring child sex trafficking into the light, but not very easy to do. People unfamiliar with child sex trafficking don't want to believe it exists. This is an ugly topic. How do you get people talking about this issue, so they can identify and prevent it from happening? And if it's already happened, how do you help guide them to recovery?

This year, Gracehaven will expand our 6th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® by coordinating three walks to a total of 1,700 people throughout Central Ohio.

Mother's Day Walk - Register Now Saturday, May 10 (Mother’s Day weekend) at Grace Polaris Church. Registration at 8 AM; walk begins at 9 AM

Father's Day Walk - Register Now Saturday, June 14 (Father’s Day weekend) at Glacier Ridge Metro Park. Registration at 8 AM; walk begins at 9 AM

Back-to-School Walk - Coming Soon Saturday, September 20 at Wolfe Park in Bexley. Registration at 8 AM; walk begins at 9 AM

There is nothing like the Victory Project, because: it's less about what we do, and more about what we undo! Life..Undone

The Victory Project breaks down the walls of captivity. By undoing the youth's isolated experiences, we expose them to the potential of a positive socio-economic standing through our 3E’s curriculum; Education, Entrepreneurship & Enlightenment.

Our youth, no longer depend on a criminal or social system which can enable their destructive lifestyles. Finding freedom and independence by obtaining marketable skills which will allow them to compete in the workforce.
Empowering our young men to discover the life God intended. which directly reflects our guiding verse; You’re here to be light bringing out the God-colors in the world, God is not a secret to be kept we’re going public with this as public as a city on a hill. Matthew 5:14

    Uncommon Alliance
An uncommon alliance has formed between the business, criminal justice and faith communities. To allow our young men to break the cycle of hopelessness, insignificance and isolation, by addressing physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

    #Never Stop Praying
See You at The Pole 2014! Gathering the 4th Wednesday of September annually for SYATP - the Global WEEK of Student Prayer. This year, SYATP DAY is 9.24.
The 2014 theme verse follows Paul’s famous passage on the armor of God, challenging and encouraging Christ followers to stand strong in the Lord and be His representatives to share the Good News of the Gospel.
From that very first year in 1990, See You at the Pole has been about one simple act—prayer. Today, SYATP is still about students humbling themselves, turning to God, and interceding for their generation.
There are two opportunities to prioritize prayer with your friends:
DAY: SEE YOU AT THE POLE day is on Wednesday morning, September 24. All around the globe, in every time zone, students will be gathering at their flagpoles, praying for their school, friends, families, churches, and communities. SEE YOU AT THE POLE is a day committed to global unity in Christ and prayer for your generation.
WEEK: The GLOBAL WEEK OF STUDENT PRAYER (Sunday, September 21 through Saturday, September 27) encourages students to find new and unique ways, places, and times to pray throughout the week. Whether you attend PUBLIC SCHOOL, PRIVATE SCHOOL, or HOME SCHOOL, gather your friends wherever and whenever and pray! The GLOBAL WEEK OF STUDENT PRAYER is dedicated to prayer and launching your on-campus Bible clubs, prayer strategies, and student ministries.

If there isn't one planned YOU CAN ORGANIZE A SEE YOU AT THE POLE time for prayer at your own school - check out the website!
