CENTERVILLE, OH- Fairhaven Church is celebrating 50 years of ministry and service in the greater Dayton community. During the three weekends leading up to Easter Fairhaven family and friends will reflect on the journey and look forward to the next 50 years.

On March 29 and 30, the Founding and Charter families will be recognized in the service and by way of a historical video. On April 5 and 6 the spotlight will be on the five churches Fairhaven has planted in the Dayton region. Then on April 12 and13 the focus will be on Fairhaven’s global impact by skyping with “home grown missionaries” in the field.

The journey started in the spring of 1964 when 12 families from Burns Avenue Church in Dayton (current the site of the Gospel Mission) began meeting at the Kettering YMCA.

In the 50-years Fairhaven has had three pastors, each playing a significant role in the growth of the congregations and in the expansion of the physical church to accommodate the ever-expanding impact in the communities Fairhaven serves.

David Smith, the current Lead Pastor said, “We believe that God wants to do great things in us and through us. We want to reach people and have an influence in our community.” In 2010, the church celebrated the completion of a building campaign that included an expanded lower level, complete with a submarine slide, a new coffee shop and the addition of the Multipurpose Activity Center (MAC), along with launching their second campus, Fairhaven Northmont. A new preschool/nursery building and a soft play area were completed in 2013. The church is currently looking forward to the construction of a new, 400-seat chapel and launching a third campus in Springboro. Some 5,000 people attend the Centerville campus weekly.

The community is invited to attend the 50th Anniversary celebrations. Saturday services begin at 6 pm, and Sunday services are 9:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Join us also for Easter at Fairhaven services on Saturday, April 19 at 6:00 PM and Sunday, April 20 at 7:30 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:30 AM and Noon. Fairhaven Church Centerville Campus is located at 637 E Whipp Rd., 45459

April 5, 2014

Middle school, high school and college students (ages 12 - 21) from around your state are coming together to reach the boys and girls of your community – and YOU can be a part of this team! You're invited to a free pizza party to learn more about CYIA. Youth groups, leaders and parents are all invited.
Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) by Child Evangelism Fellowship of the Miami Valley, is a program designed to train you and a team of other young people in effective and engaging ways to teach children about God. You will attend a one to two week training school where you will learn to present the Gospel clearly on a child’s level, counsel a child for salvation and lead a dynamic club ministry for kids. Components of this club include teaching a Bible lesson, a real-life missionary story and a Bible verse as well as leading songs, games and a fun review time.
After this training, you will return to your local community and teach clubs at various locations with a team of other young people. These clubs take place out in the community with predominantly unsaved kids who don’t regularly attend church. You will be able to take the light of the gospel to them in their apartment complexes, daycare centers, neighborhoods, schools and other community locations. Depending on the state you serve in, you will teach clubs from one to five weeks during the summer.
If you have a heart for ministry and want to team up with other young people to reach the children in your community, then CYIA is for you!
The free pizza party will be Saturday, April 5th, noon to 2:00. Reservations are not required, but are appreciated: 937-274-9781.
