On July 7, 2014, the Country Club of the North (One Club North Drive, Beavercreek, Ohio) will host a Golf Classic, benefiting Athletes in Action and their ministry to professional athletes. This unique event gives golfers the opportunity to play one of the region’s finest private courses accompanied by current and former professional athletes.

Since 1966, Athletes in Action has been using sports to answer questions of faith. Their ultimate goal is to see people’s lives transformed as they discover God’s purpose for their lives. AIA’s pro ministry provides volunteer chaplains for NFL, MLS and WNBA teams so that these elite athletes are exposed to the hope of the gospel and have opportunities to be developed in their personal faith.

Special guests will include:

R.J. Stanford, cornerback for the Cincinnati Bengals
Dave Wannstedt, former head coach of the Chicago Bears (1993-1998), Miami Dolphins (2000-2004) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2005-2010)
André Davis, former wide receiver and kick returner with the Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans
Jeremy Kelley, former wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts
John St. Clair, former lineman with the St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns
Tuff Harris, former NFL and Canadian Football League defensive back
Kim Anthony, former world-class gymnast (six-time All-American and four-time national champion at UCLA) and celebrated author and public speaker

“The Athletes in Action pro staff have been a significant contributor to my life from the time I was a player for the Steelers, an assistant coach with the Vikings and when I first became head coach of the Buccaneers,” says former Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Tony Dungy.

“Unfortunately, my schedule will not allow me to attend the Golf Classic this year, but I do plan to make it next year. I am even considering making it a regular part of my yearly schedule. I believe in the mission that strongly,” he adds.

Born out of a makeshift praise and worship band of preachers' kids, leader Nick Gonzales has no qualms in telling of Salvador's humble beginnings at their home church in Austin.

But, a little perseverance and a lot of practice paid off. Before long, the trio of Nick, older brother Art Gonzales and cousin Josh Gonzales had become Sunday regulars, leading their fellow church members in worship in a way that would make any preacher proud. This new generation in a long line of charismatic preachers and singers proudly continued the tradition of making a joyful noise. As their popularity at church grew, the talented group expanded their member roster and ventured outside of their church, taking their unique sound around the coffeehouses in Austin, and soon to larger gatherings around the country. Eventually bigger and bigger concerts came their way, including music festivals, youth conferences, and an invitation from evangelist Nicky Cruz to bring their musical fire to his crusades.

Thursday Workshops
Session 1 – Title: Why Abortion is a Gospel Issue
(Location: At the Fairgrounds)
Mike Haynes & Keith Tucci

Not merely morality or humanity, but central to the preaching of the Gospel.

Session 2 – Title: The Controversy of Truth – Clearing the Confusion of using “In Your Face” Tactics
(Location: At the Fairgrounds)
Scott Heldreth

The power of proclamation: Biblical moral truth that is spoken clearly and boldly is now becoming controversial but we must not shy away from being a voice of morality in a culture of confusion. Looking at what creates confusion and what brings understanding is key for a moral awakening to happen in any nation.

Session 3 – Title: The Gospel for This Generation
(Location: At the Fairgrounds)
Daniel Paladin

“The good news really is the good news: good news that must be proclaimed to the nations! We must not allow ourselves to be hemmed into a corner of politically correct, Universalist, meaningless jargon. How can we, the Church, effectively communicate the gospel that it might be understood and comprehended; and that it might beckon a response?

Session 4 – Title: Developing a Pro-life Curriculum for Your Church
(Location: At Victory Christian Church, 2275 South Patterson BLVD Kettering, Ohio)
Sarah Quale, Executive Director of His First Life Ministry (Minneapolis, MN)
“Over the last century, the enemy has systematically transformed America into a post-Christian nation, blinded by a culture of death. We must equip ourselves to partner with God and fight this battle, but to do so, we have to know: How did we get here? What can each individual do? And how must Christ’s church respond in these last days? This workshop gives you step-by-step guidance on how to answer these questions by integrating a new, vibrant
pro-life curriculum into your church or organization.”

Friday Workshops
Session 1 – Title: Your Passion IS Your Call
(Location: At the Fairgrounds)
Jamie Clague

Jamie was called into the Pro-life movement when the Lord spoke to her heart, “My laborers grow weary”. Her call has been to save babies through preventing pregnancies that lend themselves to abortion. If you have asked the question, “How in the world can I help?” or if you don’t know your gift to offer…come…press in with us. Join the team, He has a place for you.

Session 2 – Title: The Connection between Abortion and Birth Control
(Location: At Victory Christian Church, 2275 South Patterson BLVD Kettering, Ohio)
Dr. Matt Harrison

I will outline the history of birth control in the US, legal precedents and connections to Roe vs. Wade. We will discuss the mechanism of action of abortifacient birth control methods as well as the ethical and theological connections between birth control and abortion. We will discuss ethically acceptable alternatives to artificial
birth control and the meaning of the sexual union in marriage.

Session 3 – Title: Successfully Defeating the Giant of Abortion
(Location: At the Fairgrounds)
Rev. Arnold M. Culbreath and Rev. Johnny Hunter, Genocide Team

“Abortion is the #1 killer of Black Americans. The Giant of abortion claims the lives of nearly 1,000 Black babies daily, and many feel ill equipped to confront it. In the Bible, David defeated the Giant Goliath with faith in God, a stone and a slingshot. Attendees of this workshop will be equipped with practical tools to effectively defeat
the Giant of abortion’s death-dealing assault upon the Black community.”

Session 4 – Title: Marathon, not a Sprint: How to Stay Relevant Standing for Life in a Culture that is Embracing Death.
(Location: At the Fairgrounds)
Mike Warren & Jerry Crawford

Downtown Dayton comes to life with the sights and sounds of Ireland, Scotland and Wales at
the thirteenth Annual Dayton Celtic Festival. Three stages offer continuous live musical and
dance entertainment with audience seating under-cover. Enjoy Celtic arts and language,
cultural demonstrations, children’s activities, food, beverage, a Gaelic Mass and Celtic breakfast
on Sunday and lots more FREE family-friendly fun!
Headliner Bands:

Gaelic Storm
It has now been more than a decade since Gaelic Storm's career lifted off with their appearance in the blockbuster
film Titanic. Since their big-screen debut over 10 years ago, the band's fan base continues to multiply with each new
album, turning the one-time-pub-band into one of the premier touring acts in the Celtic/World music genre. Gaelic
Storm's compelling originals and fresh arrangements steeped in Celtic traditional melody combined with their
unique blend of world rhythms continue to broaden the musical horizons of the Celtic music genre creating new
standards for generations to come. Highlights from their decade-spanning career include seven Billboard Chart
topping albums, a DVD, a full-length concert film featured on HD.net in 2007-2008, song placement on two EA
Sports Games, a 2008 Hallmark greeting card featuring their song "Kiss Me I'm Irish", countless television and radio appearances, and of course, an appearance in James Cameron's Titanic. Gaelic Storm has sold out hundreds of
theatres and performing arts centers and has now played to audiences totaling in the millions.

Scythian
A Dayton Celtic Festival fan favorite! Rousing and raucous, Scythian (sith-ee-yin) plays kicked-up Celtic and world
music with hints of Gypsy and Klezmer, all infused with a touch of punk-rock sensibility. Take a pair of classically
trained dueling fiddlers, toss in a rhythm guitar and the occasional funky accordion, then power it with the driving
rhythm of a jazz percussionist, and you've got the ingredients for a show you won't soon forget. Their high-energy,
adrenaline-peddling, interactive brand of music has one goal in mind: to get people on their feet and dancing. Their
repertoire ranges from traditional and contemporary Celtic and folk music to the alluring and dramatic strains of
Gypsy and Eastern European tunes, and then crosses back over the border to pick up some good old-fashioned
bluegrass licks.

Socks in the Frying Pan
Socks in the Frying Pan will make their US festival debut at the 2014 Dayton Celtic Festival. The band comprises two
brothers, Shane and Fiachra Hayes on accordion and fiddle/banjo and accompanied by Aodán Coyne on guitar and
vocals. This young trad trio from Country Clare blends Irish traditional melodies with and innovative rhythmic and
melodic garnish. These socks are audibly palatable! As for the inevitable question of where the name originated?
This is yet to be disclosed!

Having gained a fan-base from four years of gigging around the west of Ireland, this exciting group has recently
started branching out and has been well received for their modern traditional style and energetic approach to
music. This, combined with an acoustic musical interplay, three-part harmony and an obvious love for live
performance, compliments the traditional essence of both tune and songs in a fresh and entertaining way. Their
debut CD was launched at the Ennis Trad Festival in November and was received very well with an audience
exceeding the capacity of the venue. The CD itself offers a dozen lovingly crafted tracks which the lads are eager to
showcase both on the album and at their musically charged gigs.

FullSet
FullSet is quickly becoming one of the most well known bands in the Irish music scene today. In October 2011 they
were honored by being announced as the winners of the RTÉ/RAAP Breakthrough Annual Music Bursary Award.
Having been shortlisted along with 12 other groups in 4 different categories ahead of a field of almost 800 other
groups and artists. This has given the group huge exposure and the opportunity to begin work on a second album.
To date, FullSet has performed at various festivals and venues across Europe including the Kann al Loar folk festival
in Landerneau, Brittany, and also the Festival Interceltique de Lorient. During this time they have shared the stage
with some of the biggest names in folk and world music including Moya Brennan, Fred Morrison, Lúnasa, Carlos
Núnez, Andy Irvine, Donal Lunny and Beoga.

"Salem Summer Camp," a VBS program for kindergarteners through sixth graders, is planned for five Wednesdays over the next two months at Salem Church of God.
The FREE sessions, from 9 a.m. until noon each day, are scheduled for June 18, June 25, July 9, July 16 and July 30. All children are invited, and there is no cost. Youngsters can be enrolled at www.salemchurch.org.
Kyle Hayes, Salem children's pastor, calls the program "VBS all summer" and promises participants a great time as they play, interact and learn about the story God is writing from the beginning of the Bible to its end.
